Rising Stars Join Sony Pictures’ “SNL 1975”

ExclusiveSony Pictures‘ highly anticipated film “SNL 1975” has solidified its cast with the addition of three rising stars: Andrew Barth Feldman, Kaia Gerber, and Finn Wolfhard. The Jason Reitman-directed project chronicles the behind-the-scenes chaos and magic leading up to the very first episode of NBC’s now-legendary “Saturday Night Live.”

Feldman (“Dear Evan Hansen,” “No Hard Feelings”) joins the cast as Neil Levy, while Gerber (“Bottoms,” “Palm Royale”) portrays Jacqueline Carlin. Wolfhard, fresh off the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of his directorial debut “Hell of a Summer,” takes on the role of an NBC page.

Written by Reitman and Gil Kenan, the screenplay delves into the true story of October 11, 1975, capturing the frenetic energy and pivotal moments that birthed a comedic revolution. The film counts down in real-time to the iconic introduction, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”

Reitman and Kenan meticulously crafted the script based on extensive interviews with surviving cast members, writers, and crew from the inaugural season of “Saturday Night Live.”

A Reunion for Feldman and Sony

This project marks a homecoming for Feldman, who recently impressed audiences opposite Jennifer Lawrence in Sony’s “No Hard Feelings.” The young actor rose to prominence after his breakout role as Evan Hansen in the Tony Award-winning musical of the same name. He has also graced the screens in Disney+’s hit series “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” and released his debut solo album, “Penn Station,” in July 2023.

Gerber’s Busy Schedule

Gerber comes to “SNL 1975” following her role in the critically acclaimed high school comedy “Bottoms.” She has a jam-packed slate ahead, including a starring role in the upcoming Laura Dern-led series “Palm Royale” alongside comedy titans like Kristen Wiig and Carol Burnett. Gerber will also showcase her dramatic range in the psychological thriller “Shell” with Elisabeth Moss and Kate Hudson.
