John Cena Steals the Show (Literally) at Oscars 2024 with Shocking Costume-Free Stunt

The 96th Academy Awards were a night of glitz, glam, and unexpected moments. While Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” swept awards for Best Hair & Makeup and Set Production, and even frontrunners like Emma Stone and Robert Downey Jr. took home trophies, it was John Cena who stole the spotlight with a truly unforgettable stunt.

The former WWE champion and Hollywood star took a daring approach to presenting the award for Best Costume Design. Referencing a past Oscars streaking incident, host Jimmy Kimmel playfully nudged Cena about a similar stunt. Cena, however, took a strong stance against body shaming, jokingly replying, “The male body is not a joke!”

Much to the audience’s surprise, Cena emerged to present the award…wearing nothing but the envelope containing the winner’s name! The internet erupted with a mix of reactions, with some viewers finding it hilarious (“I literally only see a floating envelope.”), while others weren’t fans (“this is gross”).

Despite the mixed reactions, Cena’s commitment to the bit and his playful defense of body positivity had social media buzzing. One fan even declared, “Honestly this made my day!” Whether you loved it or hated it, there’s no denying John Cena made a lasting impression on the Oscars.

The night wasn’t a complete shutout for Cena’s fashion sense, though. He was previously recognized for his role in the blockbuster “Barbie,” which itself took home the award for Best Original Song, thanks to Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s “What Was I Made For?”
