Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster is destined to become Marvel Comics’ Mighty Thor, and Natalie Portman will be the one to wield the hammer.

Thor: Love and Thunder, the newest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2022. Thor: Ragnarok (2017) is the direct sequel to the forthcoming superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, and it will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 29th feature (MCU). While it is great to watch Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as Thor, what makes Love and Thunder even more intriguing is that the picture will not only have director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), but also Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Foster from the previous two Thor films.

Portman, who hasn’t been in the MCU since Thor: The Dark World, is not only returning for the film, but will also be picking up the hammer herself, as her character Jane Foster is expected to become Mighty Thor, a fan favorite comic character.

While nothing is known about Natalie Portman’s portrayal of Mighty Thor in the film, according to The Direct, Twitter user BR Marvel News has unearthed fresh photographs of characters from Thor: Love and Thunder, including a close-up of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor.

The concept graphic depicts Portman’s Jane Foster in full Asgardian armor carrying Thor’s hammer Mjolner, according to the Twitter user.

While Chris Hemsworth has chosen to forego wearing Thor’s distinctive helmet in the film adaptations of the comic series, Natalie Portman’s portrayal of Mighty Thor may be seen with the famed winged headpiece.

For the uninitiated, Thor: Love and Thunder will see Chris Pratt reprise his role as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Dave Bautista reprise his role as Drax the Destroyer, Pom Klementieff reprise his role as Mantis, and Karen Gillan reprise her role as Nebula. Thor: Ragnarok will be released in cinemas on February 11, 2022.
