Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool could have appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Benedict Cumberbatch starrer was released in theaters last week, and after a strong opening weekend, the film’s box office results have dropped. The film has so far grossed $532,550,256 at the worldwide box office.
(Warning: Spoilers) The buzz about the rumored cameos began even before the MCU film was released. Iron Man, Professor X, and more. While some things transpired, others did not. Just before the debut, a huge cameo from John Krasinski’s Mr. Fantastic was released.
Even Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds, was considered for an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. For those who are unaware, the actor will make his MCU debut in the third installment of his Marvel superhero franchise. The Merc with a Mouth was reported to make his debut appearance in the Benedict Cumberbatch-led film.
If you’ve seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, you already know that Deadpool wasn’t in it. However, the film’s writer, Michael Waldron, acknowledged that it wasn’t just a rumor and that Ryan Reynolds was considered for Doctor Strange 2, but that it didn’t happen because it didn’t seem right.
While speaking with Comicbook, Waldron said, “Yeah, we talked about it.” “I think we talked about everything in this movie. So, [it] would’ve been crazy to not raise that, but it ultimately didn’t feel like… It just didn’t feel the right place. But yeah, of course we talked about it.”
To be honest, it would have been difficult to fit Deadpool into Doctor Strange’s tale in the Multiverse of Madness. Ryan Reynolds’ absence is probably for the best, albeit it may have been better for the picture. But no one wanted his appearance to feel forced.
