This year might very well be Halle Berry’s year. The actress has made a major comeback with Netflix’s Bruised and Roland Emmerich’s latest catastrophe epic Moonfall, including collecting a significant prize at this year’s Critics Choice Awards. Berry wore a revealing white corset and a highly “Stormy” haircut in front of the admiring crowd.
Halle Berry flaunted the corset and black power suit in the photos below, as well as her new silver-grey locks evocative of her stint as Ororo Munroe aka Storm of the X-Men. The photos also show her with her boyfriend Van Hunt in one snap, as well as the SeeHer Award she received this past weekend. You can see all of the photographs in the gallery below.
Issa Rae of Insecure fame presented Halle Berry with her SeeHer Award on Sunday. According to People, the award is given to women who demonstrate that they represent the SeeHer movement’s values, such as those that depict girls and women accurately in popular media. Berry made an uplifting acceptance speech, recounting how she previously believed that if she could get a job designed for a white male, she would be successful. “However, do you want to know why that didn’t work?” Berry remarked. “I’m not a white dude, in case you didn’t know.” This is why she is pleased to live in a period when women are able to express their “own tales,” she added.
Last year, Halle Berry’s directorial debut, the Netflix sports drama Bruised, was a huge success. Berry’s film, in which he plays a disgraced MMA fighter, was the most streamed in the United States. Within the first five days of its release, the film racked up 47.7 million hours of viewing, and Netflix did not take the triumph lightly. Berry announced in November that he has inked a contract with Netflix to create and feature in upcoming Netflix original films. While no specific figures have been disclosed, we’re assuming Berry won’t go hungry.
Given the recent events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Halle Berry’s appearance at the Critics Choice Awards with a hairstyle that almost shouts “Storm” is more than a little surprising. Patrick Stewart is largely expected to reprise his role as Professor X in the forthcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s incarnations of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home are also expected to return. Is it possible that Berry is sporting the hairstyle because she is filming, or has already finished filming, sequences as Storm in a future Marvel film?
